Space Hulk Remake Hits Legal Problems Empty Space Hulk Remake Hits Legal Problems

Awhile back, a development studio named “Teardown” announced that they were working on video game based on the Space Hulk board game from 1989 that was set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It was a fairly small project, but there’s always a price for success. As such, they’ve now run into some possible legal troubles with Games Workshop partly because of the popularity of the project, according to Niklas Ĺstrand:

“Our web space provider alerted us today that they have noticed a traffic-rate way further than they would ever expect. At the moment people have downloaded files by a total of 327 gigabytes which is much over the agreement between us and the web space provider. As this is a spare-time project we do not want to upset the people who are nice and friendly to us and so we decided to shut down this page until we find a better solution.

Also a notification from Games Workshop reached us this morning. Until we have sorted everything with them we do not want risk any legal actions against us. So we await further information regarding this matter and kindly ask you to show some patience until we release more information.”

I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but that’s still petty disappointing. Hopefully they get these legal quandaries worked out soon.
