Felmyst Strategy Guide Empty Felmyst Strategy Guide

This is the main guide for this boss. We will attempt to keep it up to date, so feedback is appreciated. This is copyright material. Please respect the work of the author and ourselves and do not copy it.

Introduction
Felmyst, the third boss in Sunwell Plateau, spawns from the corpse of Madrigosa when Brutallus dies. The encounter is a perfect compliment to the pure gear check that is the Brutallus fight. Felmyst will require every person in the raid to be aware, respond quickly and do their job effectively and efficiently at all times.

Raid Setup
2 Tanks: one protection warrior, one protection paladin. Feral druids and other warriors can also play a secondary tank role in Phase 2.
7-8 Healers: 5-6 holy priests/restoration shamans minimum, 2-3 restoration druids/holy paladins
13-16 DPS: ranged DPS is especially effective, although stacking it is not necessary

Gear Requirements
This fight is not a pure gear check like Brutallus, but the fight demands high performance out of everyone which may not be attainable without sufficient gear. If you have downed Brutallus your gear will be good enough to do this.

Buffs and Consumables
Maximum standard buffs and consumables will make the first kill the easiest. Especially important is to keep survivability and sustainability in mind. Casters will be using mana intensively and everyone in the raid may be subject to (often large) damage spikes throughout the fight.

Boss Abilities

Health: ~6.9 million

Phase 1 Abilities
Melee: Felmyst hits Black Temple geared protection warriors for 5-7k damage.

Cleave: This ability hits anyone in front of Felmyst and occurs, on average, three times in each Phase 1. It will hit Black Temple geared protection warriors for 5-7k.

Corrosion: Corrosion deals 9425-10575 nature damage immediately and also increases physical damage taken by 100% for 10 seconds. It is only cast on Felmyst's current aggro target. Its cast time is 0.75 seconds. It is not reflectable or resistible. It is used once or twice each phase 1, usually at the beginning and end of the phase.

Noxious Fumes: This ability deals 1000 nature damage to everyone in the raid every 3 seconds and is not resistible.

Gas Nova: This one second cast places a DoT on everyone in the raid that drains 500 mana and deals 1885-2115 nature damage every 2 seconds. It is dispelable but not resistible.

Encapsulate: Encapsulate is a randomly targeted 1 second cast that stuns the target for 6 seconds and deals 3500 arcane damage a second to the target and everyone within 20 yards of that person. The cast is one second from the time she targets the person to the first tick of 3500 arcane damage on everyone within 20 yards. It can be Iceblocked and Divine Shielded out of. Felmyst will turn and target the affected person and channel a pink beam at them for the whole duration, placing them in a shimmering pink sphere. Encapsulate may target the current tank and is used once or twice in each Phase 1.

Phase 2 Abilities
Demonic Vapor: This randomly targeted beam is fired from Felmyst's mouth and follows a random member of the raid around for 10 seconds. The beam moves at about running speed and will not catch up with the target if they run away immediately and keep moving. Skeletons with 33k health spawn out of the trail whether or not anyone walks through it. If the beam hits the target, they will take 4000 damage and additional skeletons will spawn. The trail of the beam leaves a faint green cloud that places a DoT on anyone who walks through it that does 2000 damage a second for 10 seconds. Demonic Vapor is cast three times at the beginning of each Phase 2.

Green Vapor: Felmyst will take a deep breath and then blanket approximately one third to one half of the fight area with clouds that will mind control anyone in them for the duration of the fight. The only way to break the mind control is to kill the mind controlled people (at which point they are not freed: they die). People who get mind controlled are also slightly buffed.
