Yes... I'm a noob. And apparently the worse kind of noob as I don't have extensive experience with gaming in general and most of what I encounter goes completely over my head for the first 2 or 3 times (or 6 or 7) that I have to deal with it (whatever *it* may happen to be on any given day).

Played Morrowind for a minute.... but one of the kids stepped on one of the CDs (nevermind what the damn CD was doing on the floor to begin with...) so I stopped playing that.

Played Baldur's Gate for a minute, but the kids would run up every time I started it to insist on all the cheats I needed to use and instructions on where to go, how to go, etc., that I finally just hated loading the game up. I want to *play* it, not click where and when I'm told to. [Yes, I'm an old fogey.... deal with it].

Played Diablo II for a while... which I enjoy and still play on occasion, but let's face it, Diablo is a pretty basic game with nowhere near the complexity of WoW.... so....

Here we are.

So... last night's stupidity involved the Farstriders. This char is a blood elf hunter. I'm in ghostlands but for some reason had to go back to Silvermoon City... oh wait.... I remember now.... I finally figured out what a bat handler was for and got to take my first fly (fortunately there's a quest for it or I'd never have realized what the hell they were).

So I'm running back, killing and skinning whatever I can. Run into the Farstrider Retreat and find, to my surprise, that all of a sudden there a bunch of quests available. OK.... so I figure I'll grab some of them while I'm in the area, right?

One of them involves killing 10 of some kind of bat and 10 of some kind of spider. So I'm running around killing bats and everything's gravy. Now I'm looking for the spider. Can't find any. Check quest. West side of Dead Scar. Ok. Check map. Yup, I'm on the West side of Dead Scar. No spiders. OK - maybe I need to go up a ways.... going up.... going up.... nope, no spiders. OK - maybe I need to down a ways.... going down.... going down and... no spiders. Check quest again. Yup.... still says West side of Dead Scar. Check map again. Yup... still on West side of Dead Scar. So... I figure maybe everyone in the world is online and grinding in this particular area so let's go back up and down the West side of the Dead Scar to see if anything respawned.... going up.... going up..... going down..... going down.... nope, no spiders.

Finally I say to hell with it.... and just head back to Tranquillien in ghostlands. As soon as I cross over.... hey... what's that? It's spiders! So I kill the 10 spiders, sputtering the whole time thinking "gee... they really could have given me better directions," right? Except that when I get back to Tranquillien and am turning in another quest I happen to *really* take a look at the Farstrider quest and.....

It's from the Farstrider enclave (or something like that), which is, of course, in ghostlands and nowhere near the Farstrider Retreat where I spent an hour looking for stupid spiders on the stupid West side of the stupid Dead Scar. At this point I had to sign off as I just couldn't stand playing with myself any longer.
