Drop-in/Drop-out Serious GvG, A discussion
To ensure this topic is removed from the whole GLT debate, I felt I'd post here with some idea's that have been raised in other threads about some options for catering for those Basiner's who :
- want serious GvG
- want to play lots of matches in a short space of time
- have trouble with the format of GLT policy
- were trying to change GLT policy to support their needs
What I've posted below is mostly copy/pasted from this thread announcing tweaks to the existing GLT policy. I think, to move forward, those that have been advocating so hard for these changes now need to explore avenues other than a GLT to meet their needs.
So, here's me sticking my paw up to raise some options that people may want to consider for how to meet their needs for serious GvG within The Basin. In some cases, I violently oppose these ideas but put them on the table for wider discussion.
(Quote from Bunnz)
- A GvG guild within the Basin.
- A Smurf guild for GvG.
- A Dedicated timeslot or Basin Main guild for operating in.
- Ability to block out Guild Halls for periods of time.
- Return of a "Dreadful Dead" type of guild.
(Quote from Malcolm)
1. Are sister GLT's allowed to swap players?
2. Are practice Guilds allowed? [ to try various maps and strategies, no AB tag ]
3. May we book a time slot in the main guilds for practice?
(Quote from Svata)
(4) Practice/SMURF Guild without AB tags;
(5) Booking exclusive time in the main AB halls;
(6) A serious GvG team [edit: Bunnz] housed within a main Basin hall;
(7) Smurf Guild for GvG;
( Return of Dreadful Dead AB hall (meaning, I beleive, a place where AB-ers play lots of GvG in a competitive but less micro managed environment)
To retain a civil nature to this thread and as a constant baying at the GLT structure is unhelpful and unlikely to lead to short term change, I have removed those comments from Svata directly addressing the existing GLT structure.
Lets draw on a fresh piece of paper and design a structure, independant of GLT's, that meets the needs of people not yet provided cover under existing Basin policies. Can we please work together on this and focus on suggestions that don't directly affect the existing GLT policy.
Hopefully, come a further review of policies, we can have a situation where the leadership can review more than one trial way of organising competitive PvP, meld the best of both together and come up with something stronger than either idea independantly was. http://www.theamazonbasin.com/gw/forums/index.php?showtopic=3374
