Got the enemy flag in GVG, What to do now?

In the November beta I was playing in a GVG battle when somebody on TS said "grab their flag" - I grabbed it and ran out the gate with it. Not knowing what to do, I took it to the central area where we would put our own flag.

The game put out a message that made me think I had just given the other team a morale boost: "DUH!"

What should I have done instead? Taken the flag out in the wild parts of the island and stashed it in some far away/inacessable spot? Does the flag show up on the mini-map or will hitting a certain key show you where it is? http://www.theamazonbasin.com/gw/forums/index.php?showtopic=370
