Strategy
This deck is about one thing — getting monsters out there fast enough to kill your opponent before they hit their “big damage level.” Most decks have a certain point where they really start to dish out the big damage and their combos start kicking in, usually around level 70. This deck can start doing serious damage at level 10 and hits your opponent hard and fast in the early turns, sometimes seriously impeding their own strategy. Level up early on with Ribbon Pig, Seacle, Fire Boar and finally Slime to round you out to level 40. Once you’re at level 40, don’t bother leveling up again as you need all your creatures to bring the pain to your opponent!
Keys to success
This deck is all about speed. If you’re playing against a slower deck (like my previous "Coming Back for Seconds" deck), you will have the advantage early that you have to press all the way until they’re dead. If you slow down for some reason, and they get their big creatures/spells out, this deck loses quite quickly. So, don’t hold back and go for it! Also, any advantage you can get out of playing an early Orange Mushroom or Cico to Loot their cards is well worth it!
Final Thoughts
This deck is a nice little fun deck to bring around with you and play against your friends. Because of the simple strategy, you can also teach people how to play very easily with this deck too! Think of it like that little mid-afternoon snack — easy to grab and go with. You could redesign the deck a little with some side quest cards to allow you to draw more cards later, or even remove the black creatures in favor of red creatures and Side Quests. I’d suggest Jr. Necki and Dark Axe Stump if you make that change. And who knows what we all have in store for us in set 2!
