WOW, 12 days since my last post. Been very busy at work and even busier at home.

My wife and I bought our first house eight years ago. Its an 80 yr old farm house, that was once owned by a prominent historian and academian. The local university has a residence hall named after him, and my neighbors often tell us stories about the gentleman and his family.

Our lot backs up onto a small 10 acre lake, with our property line stopping 100ft from the lake. We have lots of trees and loads of furry and feathered friends.

Six years ago we did some major landscaping working, cutting down trees, and rehabbing the patio that had been left to the elements and fauna, the patio alone is bigger than some two car garages. On the southside of the patio I discovered quite by accident we had a cement pond. I noticed a concrete facing while digging up ivy and ground cover. Digging deeper I discovered more of the pond, in perfect condition. I spent the summer trying to make this pond into something useful.

Unfortunately we had half a dozen pine trees around the pond, and their needles are very acidic, so trying to maintain the pond was futile, as the fish kept dying and it was a mess cleaning out the pond. The next year we did more landscaping and filled in the pond.

Low and behold my wife decides that she wants the pond rescurrected. Bear in mind its been four years since I covered in the pond. More than 10 yards of dirt. And now she wants it uncovered. So for the past 12 days I have been removing all that dirt we had used to cover the pond, more than 200 wheel barrels full of dirt moved, by hand and shovel. UGH! We had the trees surrounding the pond removed two years ago, and I get to do as I wish with the pond. Hmmmmmmmm...what can I do http://www.worldofwar.net/forums/blogs/viewblog.php?userid=341481&entry=499
