Well let's start of with stats. These are the stats you want to aim for when creating:
STR:4
DEX:doesn't matter
INT:4
LUK:doesn't matter
If you can't get that than try:
STR:5 or 4
DEX:doesn't matter
INT:5 or 4
LUK:doesn't matter
Great you made your character!
Now will you be a Dex less sin?

Great part of being them!
They're cheaper to raise
Way stronger!
Save money on weapons and clothing!
Horrible part of being them!!!
Can only where level 10 thief clothes AND MUST where them until level 20
HAVE TO STICK WITH A Garnier until level 35!!!!
Get higher damage from monsters...

Now sins with average or more required DEX are weaker...Spend more money on claws and armor...But they can use up to date claws according to their level! Less damage taken from monsters. Don't get bored of the same old, same old claw!
Now have you decided? If your gonna be a Dex less sin then you can stop adding DEX when you get your job.

Training places:
1-4:Snails
5-8:Snails, if your tired of snails then try red or blue
8-10:Blue Snails
Stat build:
Level 2: Add LUK if your DEX is already double your lvl
Level 3: Add more LUK if your DEX is still doubled your lvl
Level 4: Add 2 DEX and 3 LUK if your DEX is no longer doubled your level
Level 5: Add 2 DEX and 3 LUK
Level 6: Do you get the pattern?
Level 10:Add ALL to DEX if your DEX isn't 25 yet!!!
Now you can pick to train here until your about 90% or you can go to Victoria Island and get your job. If you decided to go to Victoria Island then before you go to Victoria Island make sure you did all your quests.

Now if your a brand new person in Maple Story and have no friends that have a person that can give you some money go to every town BEFORE Kerning City and buy return scrolls. It will save you about 500 mesos each time you go to that town. Now you can go to Kerning City if your not there yet.

Now go to Thieves' Hideaway at a basement of a cafe in Kerning City. If you don't know where that is ask some higher level thieves, if they don't say "folo/follo/follow me" than you can go in every building until you find it.

Now once you're in there go to the bottom and talk to Dark Lord. Congratulation! You're a thief!

1.0-Skill build(only 1st job sorry)

[1.1]Now lets talk what to wear and what weapon to have.
Equipment
At level 10, you can chose to stick with you're beginner clothes or buy new level 10 thief clothes. For weapon get a Garnier ASAP!!Now don't make a mistake here on stars!! Get subis OR get wolbis depending on how much it cost on your server/world.

At level 15, you HAVE to get the level 15 armor. Best if you chose Black Thief Hood, Dark Night , Dark Nightshift Pants, and Ninja Sandals,NO IT DOESN'T MATTER ABOUT THE COLOR. You can chose to stick with the stars you have which is most likely subis and get 2 or 3 sets of wolbis if you can afford it. If not then try sticking with you subis a little longer. STICK WITH YOUR GARNIER until level 25 to save about 50k/50,000 mesos or so.

At level 20, you can get the Pao set, Black Enamel Boots, and Black Loosecap. Best if you pick the black set, it plus LUK. At this point try getting 1 or 2 sets Icicles,if you can't then get 3 sets of Mokbis or Wooden Tops. Also equip the Bronze Mischief if you already have it. I know that the Garnier is sucky but it saves 50k already. Just wait a little longer and you can get a brand new claw.

At level 25, here wear your Brown Bamboo Hat ASAP if you have it already...Now get the Brown Sneak and the Dark Sneak Pants/Brown Sneak Pant.Stick with your Bronze Mischief and Black Enamel Boots for now. NOW you can get your brand new state of the art Meba!!If your planing to skip the Maple Claw and Kandanyo(level 35 and 43 claws) scroll your Meba with 100% scrolls. For stars try to get a couple sets of Kumbis or stick with your Mokbis/Wooden Tops.

At level 30, you can get a Dark Brown Stealer, Dark Brown Stealer Pants, the chain boot you got from Nella & Kerning City Citizen’s Request [2]. Stick with your Bronze Mischief. If you don't want to send mesos on that then stick with your level 25 clothes but wear you chain boot.Your stars should be the same basically but you can upgrade to Kumbis now if you can afford around 4 sets, if not than 1 or 2 sets of Kumbis/or still no Kumbis, and Mokbis/Wooden Tops.STICK WITH YOUR MEBA!!!!!

Level 35!Woot!You made it here while having kinda bad stars! Now stick with your lvl 30 clothes or buy the Knucklevest set at Ludibruim. If you still have your bamboo hat(brown one) equip it!It plus 1 or 2 more LUK then the level 35 hat. Stick with your Meba OR buy the Maple Claw. Now you should be using mainly Kumbis.

Level 40 Either keep or get your new clothes. If you want to save money look below. If you think you dish out about 200k-350k(I forgot how much the equip cost)get your Marine Shadow preferably. Don't bother get the Dark one. It cost high when it's not even scrolled or above average....If you have your Pilfer from Rowen the Fairy and the Cursed Dolls quest then wear it.The 1 Luk isn't much of a differences. If you don't have it DON'T GO BACK to finish IT!!!!!!I made that mistake and wasted 90k coming back(I play SEA going to Orbis and Ludi cost more) You can go to Omega Sector and get your level 40 shoe from the quest The Antidote but you need 1500 Mateon's Tentacle. You can go hunt for a Pilfer if you want. If you hunted for like hours just stop or if that is your training place then continue. If your doing PQs to level up go back and do it. Now when your level 43 get your Maple Kandayo. If it cost like 500k or something higher then get the Avarice get any you can make EXCEPT the blood!!!!The blood adds DEX!!!

Level 50 Get a China Set, Slain(if you can make or afford it),Goni(if you can get it) and a Sonata. It doesn't really matter if you get a Red or Brown it just add up the same basically. Any Slain that you can afford but not the Blood Slain it +Dex not Luk. But if you only find a blood and no steel then get it!!!If you want to make sure that theres a steel out there to go check but find the cheapest. Don't just buy on contact!Red Goni is the best make it or go buy it if your Lucky. Get a Brown Sonata with the Red China set=more power but doesn't match. You should see that pretty common cause not much people sell Red Sonata. Red Sonata with the Red China set=less power, a bit more avoid, and matches. Hopefully you are using Kumbis or will get Kumbis soon.

Or you can buy new clothes every 10 levels starting at level 20 like MoonlightDarkness said.

[1.2]AP build
Level 11]+5 LUK
Level 12]+5 LUK or +4 LUK,+1 DEX
Level 13]+5 LUK or +4 LUK,+1 DEX
Level 14]+2 DEX, 3 LUK
Level 15]+2 DEX, 3 LUK
Level 16]+2 DEX, 3 LUK
Level 17]+2 DEX, 3 LUK
Level 18]+2 DEX, 3 LUK
Now I'm hoping you get the pattern from level 14 and on.Because this will take too much space from level 11 - INFINITE
Level 41]+1 DEX, 4LUK
Level 42]+1 DEX, 4LUK
Level 43]+1 DEX, 4LUK
As you can see that you will only need to add 1 DEX for each level from now on.

[1.3]Training Spots
10-13 Henesys Training Ground(or field)1 on snails
14-16 " " on Slimes
15/17-21 Pig Beach
21-30 Kerning Party Quest/Green Mushrooms/Horn Mushrooms
31-35 Sleepy Woods on Horn Mushrooms
35-50 Ludi Party Quest
35-40 Wild Boars
41-55 Stone Golems, Jr. Kitties, OR Block Golems, try the Dark Stone Golems if you want

[1.4]The Star you Should Have Before go trying for 2nd job
You should have at least Kumbis if you want make the exam/test(w/e you want to call it)easier. If you want it REALLY easy well sorry you're an unfunded sin. http://www.onrpg.com/boards/39860.html
