Guide to becoming a magician

Guide to becoming a magician
Firstly, the starting of the game is very important as it determines what class your character is being built into, thus when you create your character, your stats should be something like this (keep rolling!):
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 10
LUK - 5
That would be the ideal stats for a magician-to-be-beginner. It would be better if you're lucky enough to roll a combination with STR/DEX lesser than 5, remember, the lower the better for STR and DEX.
Secondly, the building up of your character is very important, if you're wondering how you should spend your AP, here's a simple guide:
Level 1
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 10
LUK - 5
Level 2
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 15
LUK - 5
Level 3
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 19
LUK - 6
Level 4
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 23
LUK - 7
Level 5
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 27
LUK - 8
Level 6
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 31
LUK - 9
Level 7
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 35
LUK - 10
Level 8
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 39
LUK - 11
Beyond level 8, you should always add 4 AP to INT and 1 AP to LUK upon each level up.
NOTE:
It is perfectly normal to start off with a stats build like
Level 1
STR - 5
DEX - 5
INT - 4
LUK - 11
Levels 1-8 are for you to fix the amount of APs you have in INT and LUK, if this is the case, things will be simple for you. For levels 1-8, just spam APs purely into INT since you already have Level8+3=11LUK. This Notice is to help you save time on rolling the damned dice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maple Island;
Now, i'll share with you guys a simple guide that will bring you all the way from level 1 to level 8, which is also the level where you get your 1st job advancement to become a true magician;
Having rolled the dice to get the ideal stats, you can start playing! Firstly, do all the sub-quests that they offer you to get additional exp and some free items. The sub-quests are:
NOTE: I know there are many new quests now, I will update soon. This guide was made in BETA.
-Heena and Seera's Mirror (brings u 2 exp)
-The guy with the red apple (brings u 2 exp and 3 red potions)
-The mushroom soup quest (brings u 2 exp)
-The guy at the top of the 3rd map (talk to him for 3 exp)
9 exp may be little, but for low-level magicians, it is alot because it is hardest to level your magician from level 1 to 15. This is due to the low melee damage you have, lack of MP and low level magic attacks. Thus it is only wise to make full use of whatever exp you can grab hold on. After you leave Mushroom Town, you will enter the snail hunting grounds. Level up on the green and blue snails there till you're level 5, you're still too weak to take on red snails.
Once you hit level 5 or 6, you can start to travel two map east to hunt the red snails. I warn you, you will have a hard time though, it is more efficient to level on blue snails. Why is this so? A red snail has 45 HP and it gives 8 exp, while two blue snails have 30 HP but gives 8 exp too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quests;
After you travel two map east, you can also talk to Maria for a quest. You will then need to travel two more maps north-east to the town of Amherst. Give Maria's letter to Lucas (Chief of Amherst) and then deliver the reply-letter to Maria, doing so will get you a head gear and some exp. If you're lucky, maybe one of the green snails will drop you a green headband.
After you're done with the quest, you can start collecting some etc items for another quest. The items are 30 Blue Snail Shells and 10 Orange Mushroom Tops. The blue snail shells shouldn't be a problem, you will have a hard time killing orange mushrooms for they are the strongest monster Maple Island has to offer.
To collect the tops, i suggest you travel to Amherst, and then enter the portal at the far right hand side of the map, there you will enter a map where there are many orange mushrooms. Travel all the way to the top where you will see ledges with orange mushrooms on it. You will also notice that there are platforms in between the mushroom-infested ledges. Jump onto one of the platforms and then attack the monsters on the ledge of a platform opposite you. This way you won't get hurt, you can collect the tops and level up at the same time.
After you are done collecting the items, head two map west of Amherst and one map south to reach South Perry. Climb to the top of the map, and travel right until you see a man named Biggs. He will challenge you to collect some items for him, the items are 30 Blue Snail Shell and 10 Orange Mushroom Tops. Give the items to him and he will reward you with either a Razorrshead Dagger or a Fruits Dagger and some exp, both weapons are better than your bat/sword/hand axe.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st Job Advancement;
After you're done with the quests, you should go on and level up on Shrooms. Shrooms have 20 HP and they give 5 exp, they are probably the most efficient monsters for leveling. Orange mushrooms are for bowman and warrior, who have much higher damage than you. Make sure you use your AP properly (refer to above) and once you hit level 8, you're ready for your first job advancement.
Travel to South Perry, head all the way to the right until you see a blonde in blue uniform. He is Shank the Captain. Talk to him and pay 150 mesos in order to head to Victoria Island.
Victoria Island;
You will end up in a place called Lith Harbour, move right till you see the ticket booth. Talk to the man in it and request to be brought to Ellinia, the town of the magicians. You will need to pay another 100 mesos to be brought there. When you're in Ellinia, travel all the way to the top until you see a huge hut. Enter the hut and you will meet Hines, the master of all the magicians. Talk to him and become a magician. Once you become one, he will increase your MP and at the same time you will receive 1 SP. Press 'K' and invest that SP on Energy Bolt, refer to |Part 3| of the guide for more information on the skills and how you should spend your SP.
Remember to visit the Potion and Weapon Stores to check out on the items/equipments that you want to buy. After that, get out of town to save up on mesos by killing monsters! Good luck!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips when on Maple Island;
There are quite a number of tips that can come in handy, heres a list of them:
-Always pick whatever you can find, be it mesos or etc items.
-Try not to fight mobs.
-Talk to every single NPC just in case you miss out on something.
-NEVER spend money on useless items, in fact, DONT BUY ANYTHING when on Maple Island.
-The weakest monster is the Green Snail, the strongest is the Orange Mushroom.
-For Levels 1-5, hunt Blue Snails. For Levels 5-8, hunt Shrooms.
-NEVER sell ores unless you are really sure that you dont need them.
-Make sure you check the stats of the equipment you pick up before you sell them away, this is to prevent cases whereby you sold a better item away accidentally.
-You can afford to die when you're still a Beginner because you will not lose exp, BUT do not make this a habit because you will lose exp once you are a Magician.
NOTICE: When you've arrived at Lith Harbour, Victoria Island, DO NOT request to be brought to the Ant Tunnel. Reason? The monsters there are way too strong for your level, you should only travel to the Ant Tunnel when you're at least level 20, or you will have a hard time. Besides, you will be stucked in Sleepywood, the town in Dungeon (the place with the toughest monsters on Victoria Island). Once you are stucked, you can never get out unless a kind soul decides to spare you a scroll to Lith Harbour or Ellinia. THUS, DO NOT GO TO THE ANT TUNNEL!

I haven't got time to update this guide often due to work overload in school. Major exams are approaching but I will try to work on this guide as often as I can. Version 0.2c fixes some minor erros I chanced upon while reading the guide. And the simple drop list for magicians have to be delayed for awhile since the drop lists for different worlds are not the same and the drops have been reccently changed in gMS.
