Account hacking and I., We sure go a long way.
This has been boiling for a while now. Let me vent this:
-Awkward gear shift back one year-
Level 19. Alright, my first guild. The guild DragonsRaid was Level 30+, but my cousin was good friends with the leader, so I got in under one condition: I had to train like hell to 30.
Level 30 came and went. DragonsRaid was a nice guild, tight and active. Everyone knew everyone, especially since the guild limit was still 30.
At Level 35, the Guild Master lost his account to a hacker. I logged in to see I had be kicked out. I found the hacker on the Master's account, going around Ludibrium inviting seemingly random characters. Well, I was done with DragonsRaid. I just kept playing until Level 40, at which point I quit. MapleStory is not a game to be played without people to talk to. Since many of the members of DragonsRaid had already found guilds, I didn't know where to turn. My cousin, who invited me, quit as well.
I started playing SilkRoad Online for a bit. I left it after a month.
I began playing MapleStory again. At Level 42, I ran into one of my old guildmates. I saw she was in a guild and inquired about the people. She told me several other people from DragonsRaid were there. I joined. People there were nice. The Guild Master was also an old DragonsRaider.
The guild was called Guildless.
- Time shift a few months later -
The patch that expanded the max guild members was released. Guildless expanded. I began to express caution that the community would be less tight with so many people. I asked the Master for a cap at 60. 60 became 70. The Master capped it at 70.
- Time shift a while later -
Guild PQ was released. What better way to have fun with your guild? We started doing it casually. Now here's a screenshot I bet no one else has (the filename should explain the joy):
We started going after the #1 spot after we realized how easy it was to GPQ. We ended up at the top of the ranks after a while. Having someone say, "Hey, look, it's the best guild ever! HIIIII!!" was strange. For someone as humble as myself, it was sort of funny.
This is where the real rant begins:
70 people was a lot. We ended up unwillingly inviting people that wanted to join for the rank, not the guild. It got worse after a few months: I bet if we lost our #1 status, half the guild would leave. By now, the entire original 30 was lessened to about 3 or 4, myself and the Guild Master included.
It seems being the #1 guild makes people's egos inflate to larger-than-DEXless-Hermit size. We got a lot of enemies because some members decided it was fine to tick off other people because they were the most prestigious guild on the server. That led to KS wars. One KS war even landed on YouTube, dammit. Eventually, I was the last of the original 30.
-Time shift one month ago-
I log in to see I have no guild. My buddies suggest it was lag and tell me to relog. I do and it's not there. I whisper and find one of the members. She tells me the guild was hacked and disbanded. Oh hell. I and a few others organized a meeting for the members.
This is what pissed me off : People didn't want to come back because we lost our entire rank. The hell? You don't join a guild for the rank or fame. As people arrived at the meeting, we saw many of them already had guilds. iHentai, Silvanus, Turtle, Extravagance, etc. They just came there to mock us. And all I could do was fantasize about performing Fatalities from Mortal Kombat on their arrogant bodies.
After all the idiots left, the guild was down to about 15 people. 15 out of 70, can you believe that? The remnants of Guildless rebanded into Guilded.
- Time shift to today -
Only 3 people log in out of the 15. 3 left the guild. I log in today to see I am the only one left in the guild that still logs on. The ?? marks beside each member's rank and name are innumerable.
Y'know what? I'm gone. It's over.
Just recently, one of my buddies was hacked into too. Another buddy was hacked into for the second and remade his character under the name hackedtwice.
Account hackers are crap. Enough said. I commend you if you had the sanity to read all that I typed mush1c.gif. http://forums.mapletip.com/index.php?showtopic=119524
