Weapon and Hero equipment questions

I just noticed the destroyer weapons on GuildWiki. Can you put weapon upgrades on those? Is it possible to have a Vampiric Destroyer Sword of Fortitude?
Has anyone gotten one of these weapons??? I don't see many people running around with them and I think they look very cool so I would expect that if it were easy enough to get them, I'd see plenty.

Also, do most of you get crafted armor etc for your Heros?? I'm seeing that a lot of the builds suggest the runes and insignia to place in the armor so I am assuming that they are buying new armor for their heros and not just upgrading the armor that the Heros come with by default?
