"Viva Le Vegan!"
Alrighty!
I've decided to wipe clean my blog and start over.
The past few months have been a life changing experience for me. Due to serious health concerns I've switched my life around to be both healthier and more self-aware. Since my family and friends are somewhat reluctant to understand the major shift in lifestyle, I thought I would try a different approach to explaining my choices.
..
..
And this is it!
After being diagnosed with several life-long diseases, I have decided that in order for me to get a hold of my life, I need to get to the root of my health. After reading and researching, I found the best way to cure the majority of my minor symptoms was to change my diet completely.
It first started out with more green vegetables, less read meat, and no caffeine. While these things were suppose to relieve the marginal symptoms for people, they did nothing to me. I then began to cut out anything white from my diet, no red meat, and began eating only fruits and vegetables before 3pm. While I was slowly improving, I still noticed that my health could be better.
After picking up the book, "Skinny *****", I decided the best way to go was vegan. What does vegan mean? Well let me explain.
Vegan in it's simplest definitions refers to a diet which excludes ALL meat and animal byproducts. No cheese, eggs, milk, chicken, honey, butter, beef, etc. Veganism is also built on an organic diet, where meals are prepared with in season local organic produce.
You might be thinking, "why?" Well, after 2 weeks of meat withdrawal I noticed a drastic change in my health. I wasn't tired in the mornings when I woke up, I had more energy than I ever did, I was losing pounds like Britney and hair, and best of all- almost all my symptoms dissipated. It was, and still is an amazing transformation.
Now, you might have noticed the word "withdrawal" in my previous paragraph- and it's true. Animal products and byproducts are often laced with chemicals, hormones, and drugs. Cow's milk is filled with morphine like chemicals to ensure that the calves will "need" their mothers milk. All these chemicals, hormones, and other 'bad stuff', make your body almost dependent on their products. So while the first few weeks your taste buds are reforming, your body is cleansing yourself of all the crap you've put into it, you feel rotten. But if you stick to it, you'll be rewarded with an amazing change.
Veganism isn't for everyone. And vegans aren't to judge other vegans. Since my diet change, I have noticed what a touchy conversations "meat eating" is. People who eat meat, who LOOOOOOOOOVE cheese, who drink milk (which may I add holds less calcium than soy milk, ahem), are often offended when you say you're vegan. They assume that you, the vegan, are judging their diet habits. On contraire!! Judge not if ye do not wi****h to be judge upon. Being vegan does not give you the right to judge others eating habits. This is important! For if I want to 'blog' about being vegan, I must reiterate that I do not think "meat eaters" are unhealthy, are evil, or are cruel people! I was once you, and for health reasons, I have switched.
So, to close (and rather abruptly). I say this, I want to post books, recipes, ideas, thoughts about my transition to better living. Not so people can gain information, but so that I can feel proud of my transition! http://www.worldofwar.net/forums/blogs/viewblog.php?userid=340231&entry=654
